Mokpo City, is located in the southwestern corner of the Korean peninsula, has built infrastructure such as an international airport, the new port and highway and is evolving the multiple Leisure City construction as a pan-governmental national project. Therefore, the city serves as Northeastern Asia hub city of ports, especially marine tourism and trade. Mokpo City is a truly beautiful and historical port city opened a port in 1897. The city is the home of ‘ Namdo-yehyang ' (‘ southern province of art ') because the area has produced numerous artists.
"2010 Mokpo maritime cultural festival” held at Pyeonghwa Plaza and adjacent area, is full with the dreams of Mokpo City to become a 21st century free international city under banner of “the Dream of Sea, toward the future!’ and the Light of Mokpo, toward the world!”. Besides, the festival will offer to enjoy marine cultural romanticism such as various marine experience, marine multimedia fireworks and marine carnival which performs for the first time.
